B&W to supply environmental controls for Michigan power plant

Charlotte, N.C., June 4, 2012 — Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group, Inc. won contracts valued at about $55 million to design and supply environmental control equipment and design and engineer a boiler economizer for Consumers Energy's J.H. Campbell Generating Complex near West Olive, Mich.

As a leader in dry scrubber technology in North America, B&W will supply four spray dry absorber systems to control sulfur dioxide emissions for the 835 MW Campbell Unit 3. B&W also will supply a lime preparation system, ash handling systems and a B&W V-Temp economizer for the plant.

The Campbell projects are the most recent in a series of projects B&W is performing for Consumers Energy. Previously announced contracts include an environmental upgrade at Consumers Energy's D.E. Karn plant in Michigan, a construction project at the Campbell plant, and the design and construction of a selective catalytic reduction system for the Campbell plant.

In addition to supplying equipment, B&W will provide technical support services for engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
