At midnight Eastern Time, Jan. 1, PJM Interconnection successfully assumed operational control of the transmission systems of Duke Energy Ohio, Inc. and Duke Energy Kentucky, Inc.,  both subsidiaries of Duke Energy Corporation, and began administering open, competitive wholesale electricity markets in those areas.

The plant will make a major contribution to environmentally compatible and economical power generation in the region. It is also one of the most efficient and cleanest coal-fired plants in the U.S.

Despite economic uncertainty, outlook for investment on utility telecommunications upgrades during 2012-2014 remains positive, influenced by a new generation of field automation applications and advanced metering.
