MP2 Energy launches ERCOT electricity retailing business

The Woodlands, Texas, March 10, 2010 — MP2 Energy LLC, will begin selling Retail Power in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas and has secured a credit facility in support of MP2 Energy Texas LLC.

Immediately, MP2 Energy Texas will begin selling energy to commercial and industrial business in ERCOT.

The backgrounds of the MP2 team combine technical and software expertise of Retail Electric Provider operations with wholesale and risk management capabilities.

The company has risk management, back-office, billing, and customer service platforms developed specifically for serving retail loads in ERCOT.

MP2 is pursuing a number of asset management and M&A opportunities in ERCOT, and other markets. The combination of fuel procurement expertise and financial strength coupled with MP2’s experience in optimizing power assets using the APX driven SCADA platform enables MP2 to present a reliable, comprehensive and cost transparent solution to third-party asset owners.

Based in the Woodlands, Texas, MP2 Energy has established an REP and asset management business. Currently, MP2 operates as a Level 4 QSE in ERCOT with 24×7 operations and provides power and gas scheduling for over 700 MW of capacity. MP2 also manages more than 220 MW of LaaR and over 30 MW of EILS Demand Response.
