Trilliant acquires smart grid firm SkyPilot Networks

Redwood City, CA ? May 28, 2009 ? Trilliant Incorporated, an energy efficiency, utility operations and renewable integration firm, announced the acquisition of California-based SkyPilot Networks, Inc., a provider of long-range wireless mesh broadband equipment.

SkyPilot offers broadband wireless through a high bandwidth system and standards-based, wireless architecture.

Founded in 1985, SkyPilot has more than 500 customers in 50 countries including utilities, wireless Internet service providers and municipal agencies, according to a press release. Utilities have already deployed Trilliant and SkyPilot technology together successfully.

The acquisition means utility customers can deploy a single network capable of serving the needs for both AMI and transmission, substation, and distribution monitoring and automation, according to the release.
