Paris, November 6, 2009 — Constellation Energy and EDF Development Inc., a wholly-owned unit of EDF S.A., announced that EDF has completed its investment in Constellation Energy Nuclear Group, LLC, which is structured as a new joint venture.
With the close of the transaction, the companies look forward to working together to deliver the expected economic, environmental and energy benefits created by the joint venture.
Constellation Energy is a supplier of energy products and services to wholesale and retail electric and natural gas customers. It owns a fleet of generating units located in the United States and Canada, totaling about 7,100 MW of generating capacity, and is pursuing the development of new nuclear plants in the United States.
EDF Group is an integrated energy company active in generation, transmission, distribution, energy supply and trading. In France, EDF has mainly nuclear and hydraulic production facilities where 95 percent of the electricity output involves no carbon dioxide emissions.
EDF’s transport and distribution subsidiaries in France operate 1,274,000 km of low and medium voltage overhead and underground electricity lines and around 100,000 km of high and very high voltage networks.
