Town of Arlington to deploy Itron advanced metering system

Liberty Lake, Wash., February 24, 2010 — Itron Inc. signed an agreement with the Town of Arlington, Mass., to install Itron’s advanced metering system, Water SaveSource.

Located six miles northwest of Boston, Arlington provides water service to about 43,000 residents.

By deploying Water SaveSource, Arlington is moving beyond collecting meter reads for just monthly billing purposes. Being able to collect incremental meter reads, or data logging, Arlington will better understand its customers’ water usage.

With this information, they can enhance customer service with off-cycle meter reads and faster bill reconciliation. Access to such granular data will also support water conservation efforts, tracking of unaccounted for water loss and proactive in-home leak detection programs.

After Water SaveSource is deployed to about 12,500 customers, Arlington will benefit from the system’s two-way capability via time-synchronized meter data and be able to interrogate the meter without mobilizing personnel.

Itron Inc. is a technology provider to the global energy and water industries. The company provides intelligent metering, data collection and utility software solutions, with nearly 8,000 utility customers. Products include electricity, gas, water and heat meters, data collection and communication systems, including automated meter reading (AMR) and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI); meter data management and related software applications; as well as project management, installation, and consulting services.
