The theme for this year's Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference (EUFMC) is "A Sustainable Pathway to Your Fleet's Future." The 57th annual conference will take place June 20-23, 2010, at the Williamsburg Lodge & Conference Center in Williamsburg, Va. Specifically targeted to utility fleet managers from investor-owned electric utilities, the EUFMC will offer: the latest utility equipment—including alternative fuel vehicles, hybrids and PHEVs; speakers and panels on topics selected to drive value for utility fleets; sharing best practices; and networking with a wide range of fleet managers, manufacturers, service providers and contractors in multiple events. Utility companies and electrical contractors from across the United States and Canada will be represented.

The keynote speaker at EUFMC 2010, Des Bell, senior vice president of Shared Services and chief procurement officer of Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E), will address how sustainability impacts fleet operations and the future needs of fleet professionals. At PG&E, Bell is responsible for leading the utility's supply chain; materials operations; supplier diversity; transportation services; corporate real estate; and environmental, technical and land services work.
In addition, Kyle Petty, CEO of Petty Enterprises and a proven winner on and off the track, will bring his message to EUFMC 2010. A member of one of the most storied families in the history of motor sports, Petty is also active in his family's efforts to give back to the community—among them is the Victory Junction Gang Camp in North Carolina that hosts over 5,000 children with life-threatening or chronic illnesses ever year and the Chick-Fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America, an annual event that has raised over $14 million for children's charities since 1995.

The EUFMC outdoor equipment demonstration and display is the site of more than 60 exhibits where fleet managers can meet with over 200 representatives from more than 70 manufacturers and service providers. Expanded to meet the need for larger equipment and growing interest in the conference by suppliers of vehicles and equipment for the electric utility industry, the 2010 showcase will also include indoor displays.
Conference activities include one day for a drive-thru utility equipment demonstration and equipment show, and two days of speakers and presentations on industry issues. A roundtable best practices discussion will also take place.

Among planned presentations for the Tuesday and Wednesday general session: hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles, new technologies for utility fleet operations, green garages, vehicle policies, certification and testing, legislative updates, safety and management techniques for success.
All registered conference attendees are also invited to play in the 2010 EUFMC Sunday Golf Tournament. The June 20th captain and crew event will be limited to 36 teams (144 golfers); the first 144 registered conference attendees will be included in the tournament with other registrants placed on a waiting list.
Among other special events will be a Sunday afternoon sightseeing tour of Williamsburg; the June 20th tour will last approximately 90 minutes and provide an overview of the restored and reconstructed sites at Colonial Williamsburg and the important history of Virginia's colonial capital. On Monday, June 21, registered EUFMC spouses are invited to play nine holes on the Spotswood Executive Course located across the street from the lodge. And then on Tuesday morning, June 22, the James River Plantation Tour for Spouses will depart via charter bus for Westover Plantation, circa 1730, and return early afternoon.
Providing a forum where fleet managers can exchange information and discuss mutual concerns, the conference promotes close cooperation between manufacturers, suppliers, services and fleet representatives engaged in the development and design of vehicles and equipment associated with the electric utility industry.
