Alstom extends $422.5 million contract for natural gas plant in Taiwan

Paris, March 30, 2011 — Alstom has signed an operation and maintenance contract extension with Ever Power IPP, an independent power producer, for the Hai-Fu gas combined cycle power plant located in Taoyuan, Taiwan. This 15-year contract extension is worth just under $422.5 million.

The 980 MW Hai-Fu combined cycle power plant, which was built in 1996, was one of the first independent power plants to come into operation in Taiwan.

The power plant operates on natural gas and consists of two combined cycle blocks with a total of four Alstom's GT24 gas turbines. Alstom has been executing an O&M contract for the Hai-Fu power plant since 2001.

Under the terms of the new contract, Alstom will provide the full operation of the power plant and all necessary maintenance services with a permanent site crew.

Thanks to Alstom's KA24 technology and to the experienced permanent operation and maintenance staff, the Hai-Fu power plant has outstanding start-up reliability.

Alstom's flexible and reliable GT24 technology allows the plant to be dispatched daily at full load and shut down overnight and over the weekend, when demand for electricity is low as per the requirements of the power purchase agreement.
