Online energy usage history tops the menu of value-added services utilities are planning to offer their customers, according to a survey conducted by Atlanta-based Chartwell Inc. (www.chartwellinc.com/research.htm). Some 56 percent of gas and electric utilities are planning or considering giving customers their usage history via the Internet. Another 15 percent already offer some form of the service. Other value-adds, such as onsite power, home security and surge protection, have gained popularity among utilities in the past two years.
