Methane-fueled microturbine debuts

Portland-based Pacific Northwest Generating Cooperative (PNGC) will take an industry lead in delivering green power to its customers by becoming the first energy services company to use a microturbine to generate electricity using fuel recovered from a landfill. PNGC received a special grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to test a microturbine that runs on methane gas. Onsite Power Systems, Camarillo, Calif., will supply the microturbine.
