PeopleSoft Inc. (www.peoplesoft.com) recently released PeopleSoft CIS for Public Enterprises. The customer information system module was co-developed with SPL WorldGroup Inc. (www.splwg.com), and is based on SPL`s CIS Plus product. The CIS integrates with PeopleSoft enterprise applications and allows utilities to manage customer life-cycle processes, from initiating service to credit and collections. It also provides an e-business backbone for Internet functionality and options for web-enabled information dissemination, according to PeopleSoft.
Benton Public Utility District in Washington state was one of the first organizations to license the CIS system. "We can consolidate billing processes, allow flexibility in meter reading and billing cycles, and create customer billing and usage history by service," said Jack Swanson, Benton PUD`s manager of information systems.
