Digital Multimeter

Fluke Corp., a global leader in test and measurement technology, announced enhancements to its bench digital multimeters. The Fluke 8808A 5.5 digit Digital Multimeter and the 8845A/8846A 6.5 digit multimeters will include a USB to RS232 Cable Adapter, as well as FlukeView Forms Basic software. In addition, Fluke has increased the warranty period on these meters to three years. The USB to RS232 Cable Adapter converts the RS-232 serial port on the 8808A, 8846A or 8845A to a USB, allowing users to connect their multimeter to a PC USB port. FlukeView Forms software increases the power of Fluke bench multimeters by enabling users to document, store and analyze individual readings or series of measurements, then convert them into professional-looking documents. FlukeView Forms Basic can be used alone to download measurement data and create reports that can be saved and printed.

Grid Security
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Inc. announced that the recently released SEL-3620 Ethernet Security Gateway is available. Designed to provide security to critical infrastructure systems such as water treatment facilities, oil and gas facilities and the electric power transmission infrastructure, the Ethernet Security Gateway protects systems from malicious traffic with virtual private networks (VPNs) and a configurable ingress and egress stateful firewall. It provides up to 60,000 security event reports and supports Syslog with precise time tagging of events through IRIG. The storage for SEL-3620 offers industry-vetted security and interoperable standards, including Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) (RFC 4301, 4302, and 4303), X.509 certificates, OCSP certificate revocation, IRIG-B time synchronization, HTTPS Web interface, Cisco:OPSAID interoperability and Syslog. Tailored specifically to secure smart grid communications, the Ethernet Security Gateway operates with existing information technology and control systems, using an intuitive, menu-driven Web interface to create an IPsec VPN. It secures routable protocols that cross electronic security perimeters and provides up to 16 VPN connections on three Ethernet ports.
