BC Hydro picks Telvent for sustainable electric grid solution


Vancouver, British Columbia, March 17, 2010 — Telvent will supply the Telvent Distribution Management System to BC Hydro.

BC Hydro serves an area inhabited by more than 94 percent of British Columbia's population. BC Hydro’s electric distribution operation is headquartered in Vancouver, B.C. and serves 1.8 million customers.

Telvent’s integrated, scalable Distribution Management Systemsolution will enhance BC Hydro’s ability to provide safe, secure and reliable energy supply to its customers particularly during major storms or unusual events.

As part of the project, Telvent’s DMS and OASyS DNA SCADA System will be integrated as a single solution to allow BC Hydro to enable new system devices as well as optimize the distribution grid to reduce system losses. Telvent has launched other similar projects in electric network control centers worldwide.
