Shanxi Electric Power picks Telvent system to manage power grid

Madrid, December 30, 2010 — Telvent, the leading real-time IT solutions and information provider for a sustainable world, has been selected by Shanxi Electric Power Co. to implement a new data acquisition system that will allow the company to address service outages more quickly and provide a more reliable network.

With China’s booming economy, the demand on the current power grid is quickly growing. Shanxi Electric Power Co. will implement Telvent's OASyS Dynamic Network of Application to help them make faster operational decisions, increase customer satisfaction and cut costs.

Specifically, Shanxi will be able to highlight exact locations of potential trouble spots on a power diagram for more efficient troubleshooting and maintenance. The new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) will also meet new functionalities required by the China State Grid Corp.

According to Telvent's CEO, Ignacio Gonzalez, “China is a very important market for Telvent. This agreement demonstrates our active involvement in the Chinese energy industry and helps Shanxi Electric Power Co. more efficiently provide power to its 34 million residents.”

Telvent has developed and deployed advanced information management systems for the energy industry for nearly 50 years. Today, more than 500 utilities worldwide rely on Telvent technology and solutions, including advanced metering infrastructure projects for Vattenfall, Fortum and SCADA, DMS, GIS or OMS projects for Consumers Energy, Progress Energy, Distribution Grids of Elektra, Emcali, Saesa and CNFL.
