Carmel, Ind., February 25, 2011 — The Board of Directors of the Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator, Inc. approved the application of Missouri River Energy Services to join the Midwest ISO as a transmission-owning member. Full integration could come as early as June 2011.

The integration of MRES’ 28 miles of transmission will enhance reliability by internalizing unscheduled energy and lessening congestion on the system.

“We are honored that Missouri River Energy Services has chosen to become part of Midwest ISO as a transmission-owning member,” said Midwest ISO president and CEO John Bear. “We look forward to working with their team to deliver a smooth transition so that MRES may begin accessing the value the Midwest marketplace can provide to them.”

As a transmission-owning member of the Midwest ISO, Missouri River will benefit from greater coordination of resources in the Upper Midwest and the transparency that the Midwest Energy Markets provide.

“MRES is pleased that Midwest ISO has approved our becoming a transmission owner,” said Missouri River Energy Services CEO Tom Heller.

“We are participating in some of the earliest CapX2020 projects as an owner participant and look forward to more opportunities as a Midwest ISO transmission owner.”

Over the last several months, the Midwest ISO and MRES have closely coordinated the activities necessary to prepare for MRES’ participation in the Midwest Energy Markets and the transfer of functional control of its transmission system to Midwest ISO.

Missouri River Energy Services’ full integration into Midwest ISO’s market operations is subject to certain regulatory and creditor reviews and approvals.
