Minneapolis, Minn., August 13, 2010 — Pedernales Electric Cooperative of Texas picked Open Systems International to provide a large-scale, new Energy Management System and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system for control and monitoring,
The distribution system serves more than 233,000 meters across more than 8,100 square miles, includes all or portions of 24 counties across central Texas and borders the major cities of Austin and San Antonio.
Faced with new technical challenges and continuing growth, PEC chose OSI’s monarch (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) technology to replace its existing SCADA infrastructure.
The proposed system includes a modern real-time infrastructure to address operations, including advanced distribution analysis applications. OSI’s new .NET Graphical User Interface will facilitate and improve PEC’s operational situational awareness.
“OSI is pleased to welcome PEC to our large user-base. An important project objective for PEC has been the need for a more secure platform, which can easily expand to support smart grid integration initiatives. We appreciate PEC’s trust in OSI and OSI technology. OSI’s technology offers an unmatched technical pedigree, performance, scalability, functionality and compliance, as well as the highest degree of user satisfaction. We are pleased to help PEC realize all the benefits of our technology,” said Bahman Hoveida, President and CEO of OSI.
