Foster Wheeler garners Cinergy order
Foster Wheeler Power Group Inc. has been awarded additional business for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) installations under an existing business alliance with Cinergy Services Inc. The value of the order is approximately $75 million for the supply of SCR equipment for unit 5 and construction of SCR equipment for unit 4 at Gibson Station. The equipment deliveries for unit 5 will be completed this year, and construction at unit 4 is scheduled for completion in early 2003.
Pratt & Whitney install transportable power
CalPeak achieved commercial operation of its 50 MW El Cajon facility located outside of San Diego this summer. The facility is the inaugural site for the Pratt & Whitney transportable power plant product, the SWIFTPAC 50. Pratt & Whitney installed 50 MW of power in less than two months from foundation completion to the performance test, according to the company. Within that timeframe, it took 32 days to install the SWIFTPAC unit and to begin producing power, while only using one shift per day.
FENOC acquires vessel head
FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) has purchased an unused replacement reactor vessel head for the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station. The head will come from Consumers Energy's Midland Nuclear Plant, which was never completed as a nuclear plant. FENOC expects to complete refurbishment and installation of the replacement reactor head this year at an estimated cost of $55 to $75 million.
