Boston, June 30, 2010 — Carnegie Mellon University has purchased EnerNOC’s SiteSmart data-driven energy efficiency application for two buildings on its Pittsburgh campus.

SiteSmart collects and analyzes building management system data continuously from thousands of energy consuming end-use devices across facilities to identify energy inefficiencies.

The types of energy efficiencies uncovered by SiteSmart are typically no-cost or low-cost operational and programmatic opportunities, making SiteSmart a capital-efficient and immediately impactful application.

SiteSmart guarantees savings of 8 to 12 percent of the customers’ addressable annual energy spend and SiteSmart analysts deliver monthly Score Cards that include specific energy efficiency measures ranked by financial, energy and carbon savings.

“SiteSmart offers significant potential to both identify low cost capital improvements and provide the university with an opportunity to assess and optimize its investment in the campus building automation system,” said Tim Healy, Chairman and CEO of EnerNOC.

Carnegie Mellon is piloting the application in two silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certified buildings. The university believes that a continuous commissioning program such as SiteSmart can help improve energy efficiency even in high performance buildings such as these, and energy improvements should be even greater as Carnegie Mellon adopts this technology in its other, less efficient buildings.

Carnegie Mellon’s other sustainability initiatives include using renewable energy sources for 75 percent of the campus’ purchased electricity use, implementing an extensive campus-wide recycling program and achieving LEED certification with all new construction on campus.
