New Orleans utility Entergy said the outage that struck the Mercedes-Benz Superdome for about 30 minutes in the middle of Super Bowl XLVII was not the result of a lack of power supplied to the stadium.

"At all times, Entergy's distribution and transmission feeders were serving the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. We continue working with Superdome personnel to address any outstanding issues," according to a statement from Entergy, the utility that serves New Orleans.

The Baltimore Ravens were leading the San Francisco 49ers 28-6 when most of the lights in the 73,000-seat building went out with 13:22 left in the third quarter.

The power came back on after about 34 minutes.

Officials said an abnormality in the power system tripped the power outage, which caused backup systems to take over, thus preventing the stadium from going completely dark.

As of press time, the causes of the power interruption are still being investigated.
